Building a Restaurant Rooted in Culture & Community
Sharon Thomas, Pavan Koshy Jacob, and Amal Jacob are not just business partners, they are lifelong friends whose paths in hospitality brought them closer together. Their combined experience, passion, and commitment shaped the foundation of The Malabarikh Atelier.
Meet the Founders
Pavan Koshy Jacob
Pavan, a seasoned chef with more than a decade of experience, grew up immersed in authentic Indian flavours. Before moving to the UK, he successfully ran a catering business in India, where he mastered the techniques and traditions that now define The Malabarikh Atelier.
His journey to the University of Hertfordshire, where he studied International Hospitality, Tourism & Events Management, brought him closer to Amal. Later, he worked in a fine-dining restaurant in Cambridge alongside Sharon, a partnership that laid the groundwork for our restaurant’s identity.
Sharon Thomas
Sharon is a passionate chef whose creativity and commitment to flavour shine through every dish.
With several years of experience in UK kitchens, he brings bold, beautiful Indian flavours to life, complementing Pavan’s traditional approach. Together, they create a menu that pays homage to India’s culinary heritage while satisfying the tastes of the local Ely community.
Amal Jacob
With extensive customer service experience, including time spent working on cruise ships, Amal ensures every guest feels welcomed, valued, and cared for.
His warm approach and genuine hospitality shape the inviting atmosphere that guests experience from the moment they walk through our doors.
